Dimensional Store System In Apocalypse Novel

Chapter 390 - Acquaintance (1)

“Do not falter! Just concentrate on moving forward. The others would follow and clear what you left behind!” Zhang Qin Feng yelled as he fired at the incoming zombies.

Except for the driver, everyone else is busy firing in one direction. All the driver needed to do was to remember his route towards the Power Station. It wasn’t going to be an issue since the fortified construct is much more significant from close, but their concern is on somewhere else.

As the driver, his responsibility lies in controlling the vehicle alone and recognizing his way towards the destination. Added with the condition of this forested terrain would only increase the difficulty to reach where they wanted to go.

To a driver, a forested terrain like this is like a grass plain filled with booby traps and landmines waiting for them to conquer. But instead of something that explodes, they come in multiple appearances, such as water puddles, uneven terrains, sharp boulders, etc.

While these might be easy to overcome by foot soldiers, a vehicle will have a rough time on such a terrain. Furthermore, they’ll have to pray that the suspension of their ride could last until they reach their destination.

“Tianci, your turn! We’ll get rid of as many small fries while you’re dealing with the big guy!” Zhang Qin Feng said while tossing the empty mag of his Centurion Rifle off the vehicle.

Touching his waistbelt after what he did, Zhang Qin Feng realized that he was only left with three mags before he had to give up the Centurion Rifle. With fifty bullets in a single mag, he could get between seventy to hundred-fifty zombies if all his shots landed on his target.

But without Stein’s assistance, the former estimation might be not too far from his final results.

“Support the Vanguard Leader! Focus on our front!” Zhang Qin Feng yelled.

Zhang Tianci had left the vehicle earlier after pulling the two machetes out from their sheaths. Charging fiercely into the zombie’s crowd, he took less than half a minute to behead the first Tyrant in front of them.

Precisely one minute from the moment he left the vehicle, the second and third Tyrant was lost to Zhang Tianci. The latter was still dancing in the air as he stabbed his machete deep into the Tyrant’s skull to mark his fourth kill.

The vehicle charged through since no other Tyrants were near them as it rammed into the swarming zombies.

Using this small window of time to look behind, Zhang Qin Feng noticed that his remaining crews are still following closely, although their distance is somewhat increasing.

The vanguard could continue to fire forward, but not backward. In case of accidents, they would be the one who initiates a friendly fire in a situation like this.

This situation somewhat makes it impossible to provide firing support to the rear. And at this time, all Zhang Qin Feng could do was pray that they managed to follow him closely.

“Creator, we’re less than a kilometers away,” said Zhang Tianci as he grabbed on the support beam available around the passenger’s side.

“Good. Operator, we’ll be relying on you. Get all of us there in…”

“Fuck! Reroute, reroute!” the vehicle was forced to stop before a trench. From its look, this passage was dug long ago based on the vegetation growing in there.

Since there’s no warfare happening here, the trench is likely dug for them to add another cable or walkway to a particular place. But right now, they had no leisure to explore what was beyond the end of this trench.

It cost them another few minutes to take a detour. And that was not all.

Zhang Qin Feng is officially out of the rifle bullets as he had to resort to using the Phalanx pistol in his hand. There are a few more heavy weaponry on the vehicle’s storage, but that’s for them to destroy the power station.

*Roar!*

An earth-shattering roar followed. It seems that the bloody stench from both zombies and humans finally attracted the Tyrant crowd gathered around the inner circle of the beacon site.

If they had to blame this on someone, perhaps the wind was the cause of it. Also, maybe it’s because the blood was just too irresistible to the virus carriers.

Multiple projectiles immediately flew in their directions, following after the roar. The battlefield was instantly in disarray as the concretes mercilessly slaughtered both friends and foes. Part of the path Zhang Qin Feng had taken was now either packed with zombies or entirely emptied from the attack.

Sad to say, Zhang Qin Feng will no longer have the support he asked for upon arrival at the power station.

“Boss! We’re on our own!” said one of the soldiers seated on the back of the vehicle. He just had the leisure to get busybody with something even Zhang Qin Feng could have guessed.

“Just bother with your own things. I’m not blind.” Zhang Qin Feng used his elbow to give that foolish soldier a knock over his head.

“Operator, how far are we from the Power Station?” Zhang Qin Feng could see the building from where they are, but as usual, the image before you doesn’t mean you’re close to them.

“From the vehicle’s interface, we’re about 250m away,” the operator quickly responded to Zhang Qin Feng’s question.

“Then… Step on the pedal. Bring us there ASAP, and let us blow that thing apart!” Zhang Qin Feng said.

“Get the big guns out. And put on the Nightstalker Bracelets! We’ll go in there with a bang!” he added.

The sound of the engine was fiercer as they increased their speed towards the power station. But then, a hint of death suddenly came to Zhang Qin Feng as their vehicle was about to arrive at the power station.

An attack that came out drilling from the ground turned their vehicle upside down as Zhang Qin Feng and the others were thrown out along with their vehicles.

A familiar red-skinned Tyrant, which looked like an acquaintance of Zhang Qin Feng, just had to appear at this critical time to give him a warm greeting.

“Survivor!” the Tyrant smiled as it crushed the driver in his hand into meat pulps.
