Flashback of Three Months Ago.
Dae Hyun was walking down the road to his car.
The atmosphere at home this morning was a little uncomfortable because there had been a little commotion between him and his wife. He chose to leave home.
While facing the side, Dae Hyun accidentally saw a commotion happening on the side of the road in front of a large house.
Two large men dragged away a middle-aged man. A young girl named Soo Yin cried while begging an old man who was standing in front of her.
“Mr Jang, please let my father go! We promise to pay off our family debts,” Soo Yin whined with tears streaming down her cheeks.
“Ha, you think I’m stupid? You guys will run away like that bitch,” said the bald Jang, narrowing his eyes.
“Sir, I beg of you.” Soo Yin kneeled before Mr Jang.
Dae Hyun parked at the side of the road then rushed outside to see what was going on.
“What’s going on?” Dae Hyun inquired.
“There is no need to interfere in our business, and there is no way you want to help them pay off their debt to us,” said Mr Jang with a mocking smile.
“Debt?” Dae Hyun asked, frowning.
“Yes, please don’t ask anymore!” said Jang.
Soo Yin didn’t know what to do. She also didn’t have the money to help her father.
They were like this because their stepmother used their house and land documents as collateral. But at times like this, the stepmother had run away, and no one knew where she went to.
“Write down how much they owe!” Dae Hyun suddenly handed over a check for Mr Jang to fill it out himself.
“If it’s still lacking, this is my card.” Dae Hyun handed over his business card to Mr Jang.
“Thank you, sir.” Jang kissed the paper containing the check with great delight. “Let him go!” Mr Jang shouted to his men to let Soo Yin’s father go.
Then they left the place. Soo Yin immediately got up and ran towards her father, who suddenly collapsed to the ground.
“Father, wake up! Don’t leave me!” Soo Yin shouted while hugging her father.
“Come on, take your father to the hospital!” said Dae Hyun.
Along the way to the hospital, Soo Yin kept shedding tears. The girl did not want to lose anyone for the second time. It’s enough that her mother was gone forever.
Right now, she only had her father.
Dae Hyun took them to Hallym University Medical Center Hospital, one of the biggest hospitals in Seoul.
Soo Yin wanted to go to the ICU when she saw her father enter the room. She went there with doctors and nurses. She rebelled when Dae Hyun grabbed her arm.
“Let the doctor handle it, your father will definitely recover,” said Dae Hyun as he patted the girl on the shoulder.
Soo Yin finally calmed down even though she could not hold back her tears. Which child could look strong when her father was undergoing a critical period?
A few days later.
Finally, after three days of treatment by a doctor, Soo Yin’s father was already in good condition. His health started to improve, and he had been transferred to another room.
“Dad, don’t scare me anymore.” Soo Yin sat beside the bed, holding her father’s hand.
“I’m sorry, Soo Yin. I’ve made you worry,” said the father. He stroked Soo Yin’s hair softly.
“Soo Yin, do you know the name of the person who helped us?” asked Soo Yin’s father, whose name is Kim Nam.
Soo Yin remembered that before her father passed out, there was someone who helped her. Soo Yin almost forgot about that man.
She also didn’t have time to say thank you because at that time she was grieving. The girl immediately remembered that Dae Hyun left a business card the other day.
Soo Yin immediately took out her wallet.
“He left a business card,” said Soo Yin as she handed the card to her father.
“Call him, daddy wants to say thank you,” said Kim Nam handing the card back to Soo Yin.
Soo Yin obeyed her father’s orders. The girl immediately called the phone number listed on the business card.
“Hello, who is this?” asked Dae Hyun across the phone.
“It’s me, Soo Yin. Can you go to the hospital, sir?” Soo Yin hesitated. She wasn’t sure that the man would come.
“Soo Yin? who?” Dae Hyun didn’t have time to know the girl’s name because at that time he was in a hurry to return to the hotel.
“It’s me … that you helped for a few days,” Soo Yin said nervously, worried that the man didn’t remember her.
“Oh, yes. I just remembered, your father was hospitalised, right? What’s wrong?” said Dae Hyun.
“Can you visit the hospital? My father wants to say thank you, but if you are busy, it’s okay.” Soo Yin bit her lower lip in nervousness.
“Okay, I’ll try to come later,” said Dae Hyun.
“Then, thank you.” Soo Yin immediately hung up.
“How?” asked Kim Nam.
“Dad, he’s busy. How could he have time to come here,” said Soo Yin.
“Forgive your father, Soo Yin. I have made you suffer,” said Kim Nam. There was a deep sense of regret in his heart. If only he didn’t remarry, maybe their condition would not be like this.
“Never mind, don’t think about it anymore,” said Soo Yin while rubbing Kim Nam’s hand.
Soo Yin tried to look tough so that her father wouldn’t be sad. If she wanted to be angry, of course, Soo Yin really wanted to be angry. But when her father’s condition was like this, she could only accept this fate.
“How about the hospital fee?” asked Kim Nam sadly.
“Don’t worry, I have little savings, and I’ll be looking for a job soon.” Soo Yin had savings because all this time, she always put aside the money that her father gave her while she was still in school.
Soo Yin just graduated a few months ago from high school.
“If only our business didn’t go bankrupt…” Kim Nam couldn’t carry on with his words.
