I Became the Best Forensic Doctor After My Betrayal Novel

Chapter 10

Case

Shen Yin had formed her opinion after meeting the people from the forensics office.

None of these forensic pathologists had been in the profession for long. It was likely that the older, more experienced forensic pathologists had been transferred to other branches.

No wonder the chief was anxious to hire someone with the credentials to be chief forensic pathologist to hold the fort.

Wang Sheng had been in forensics for many years and had been mentored by many seniors. However, this was the first time he had met a forensic pathologist who could obtain position of chief before the age of thirty.

Although it seemed embarrassing to be led by a girl who was more than ten years his junior, Wang Sheng still admired her inwardly. He was long past the age of inexperience and arrogance. He knew his limits.

He had been scolded by many mentors for his clumsiness and had made many mistakes. It had not easy for him to get to where he was today. No one knew better than him that in forensic science, a person not only had to be hardworking and diligent, he also needed to have talent.

Wang Sheng happily pulled out a chair for Shen Yin from the desk furthest from the door and carefully placed his cushion on it. “Boss, sit. This will be your desk in the future. I’m very happy to be able to learn from you in the future.”

“There’s no need to be so polite.” Shen Yin saw that they did not show any displeasure because she was young, and she liked them even more.

“You guys go ahead. I’ll go with Little Heng to meet my colleagues in the Criminal Investigation Division.” Shen Yin turned to Meng Heng, who hurriedly said goodbye to Wang Sheng and the others. He eagerly led the way for Shen Yin.

Along the way, Shen Yin concentrated hard to memorize the twists and turns of the building. With her poor sense of direction, if she did not try her best to memorize the route now, she might have to trouble Meng Heng to bring her back later. That would be too embarrassing!

The door to the bureau office was ajar, and a few people inside were working quietly.

Meng Heng knocked on the door. The captain, sitting in the chief’s position, immediately looked up sternly and said in a cold and rigid voice, “Come in.”

“Report.” Meng Heng saluted and stepped aside, revealing Shen Yin behind him.

“Hello, I’m chief forensic pathologist, Shen Yin. I’m reporting to work today. I hope to work well with Captain Wu in the future.” Shen Yin took the initiative to extend her hand with a faint smile on her face.

Along the way, Meng Heng introduced her the people who worked in the offices of each area, while also mocking the captain for being so stern and unsmiling.

Shen Yin did not think much of it. As the captain, he could not always be smiling like a child. Without dignity, his subordinates would run amok.

In criminal investigation, the greatest taboo was a lack of discipline. Only by being organized and disciplined in everything could they rush to the front line at the first moment, when people were in danger.

Wu Zheng was not arrogant. When he saw Shen Yin, he stood up and shook her hand, his expression still stern. “Wu Zheng, Captain of the Third Criminal Investigation Division.”

“Welcome, Dr. Shen. My name is Zou Sheng.” The young man sitting behind the computer raised his head and waved at her. His red jacket was quite eye-catching, and a huge headset hung around his neck.

“He’s a cyber police officer.” Wu Zheng glanced at him indifferently. The latter immediately swallowed and retracted his hand sheepishly, not daring to make a sound.

“You’ll have plenty of opportunities to get to know each other in the future. Let’s look at the case first.” Wu Zheng sat behind his desk and gestured for Shen Yin to sit opposite him.

Zou Sheng snapped his fingers lightly, and a set of photos suddenly appeared on the large screen hanging at the front of the office.

“Wen Wen, female, twenty-six years old, employed by a security company. The time of death is estimated to be between 11 o’clock and 1 o’clock last night. The forensic pathologist has certified that the cause of death was heart failure.” Zou Sheng looked at Shen Yin and smiled. “The certification was done by Dr. Wang. Dr. Shen, do you know each other?”

“Continue,” Wu Zheng reprimanded Zou Sheng sternly. This kid had privately hacked into the police department’s system yesterday and investigated the new forensic pathologist. He had yet to settle the score with him. And now he still dared to smile cheekily during the meeting. It seemed that he was being too nice to them!

“Ahem.” Zou Sheng looked away awkwardly and continued reading from the information he was holding. “Wen Wen was hospitalized for a heart attack two weeks ago and had not left the hospital since then. These are her hospital records.”

The screen changed to show a hospital record and diagnosis. Shen Yin glanced at it and saw that nothing was amiss. She asked suspiciously, “It looks normal. Is there a problem?”

“The problem is,” the man in the white shirt and light blue jeans interrupted, “Wen Wen’s parents insist that their daughter’s heart attack was caused by someone frightening her.”
