Into the Zombie World Novel

Chapter 244 - Past

Jake caught the Tiny Orange and stared at it for a moment. He was no stranger to this kind of thing as they also have another type of fruit in their backyard that has a certain effect.

Unfortunately, it was not the time for another harvest so they were not able to bring some along with them.

The Tiny Orange only has the size of a marble. Aside from the dark spots present on its skin, there were no other disparities than normal oranges.

He wiped the blade on his hands with water and clean cloth before slicing the orange in half.

He then offered the other half towards Jade and at the same time, they fed it to the Leader, and Katrina.

Although it doesn’t help with their recovery, it at least eases the pained expression on their face. Especially the leader who was only enduring the excruciating pain before.

“Thank you!” The leader expresses their gratitude with a smile.

Katrina also expressed her gratitude the same way as that of the leader. She just became a high table member not long ago and her hatred for the Blue Wave Faction was still the same as that of normal members.

After a while, the others had already rested enough and even switched the people for the lookout.

Fortunately for them, outside the building, the Four Hybrids Elders only lingered on the area for a moment before they proceeded forward to ‘chase’ those who killed the Earth Elder’s grandson.

In the northern part of the Town of Daan, at Nile’s old and abandoned house.

Jellan stared lovingly at Nile’s calm expression while undergoing his evolution. She could not help but reminisce about their past together when they were still in high school.

It was a normal day for her and her circle of friends. They were already in their third year of high school at that time and everyone was busy on their respective projects.

Although they don’t talk to each other, she was already aware of Nile’s existence as well as his best friend, Alex.

The two, Nile and Alex’s background were in stark contrast to one another. However, it never hindered their friendship and it even made them closer.

Nile was among the smart students of the entire school and it was due to it that he was able to enter their school by only relying on scholarship programs.

Meanwhile, Alex was the son of the number one councilor of the town at that time, while Jellan’s father was already the town’s Mayor.

Nile was considered to be a genius while Alex was a delinquent who frequents bars and other dark areas.

The duo was famous throughout the school for the same reason. Nile would go and teach Alex about school, while Alex protected Nile from the shadows, of course, Nile was aware of it.

At that time, Jellan thought that she only had fake friends and they only came near her due to her status as the Mayor’s daughter.

She often observed Nile and Alex’s friendship and she could not help but feel jealous about it.

One time, she decided to confront her supposed friends about it, and just as she expected, they were really fake. They were pretty honest about it, as they instantly admitted it after she confronted them.

Saying they only got close to her as she would often buy them drinks and snacks.

As a vulnerable third-year student, she felt heartbroken and was depressed about it.

It was at that time that she started going home late. Her personal driver would always wait for her outside the school anyways. And at that time, she realized that it was not only her who went home late.

Nile and Alex were also there along with her. However, oftentimes, it was only Nile present as Alex would go to the bar and other places to have fun.

After that, she always stayed late and observed the two at the corner of the room. She even felt more jealous about it after seeing Nile offering Alex some after-class tutoring, and Alex sharing his experience outside with a genuine smile.

One time, she was caught by Alex staring at them.

“What are ya looking at?” He frowned at her, displeased at what he just witnessed.

Jellan did not answer and instead just looked down below her desk. Her heart was still fragile at that time after all and one shout from others would instantly create an aching sensation on her chest.

And just when Alex was about to go and confront her, Nile suddenly interrupted, saying it was okay.

He then nodded his head towards her before beckoning for Alex to sit down again.

A month had passed and she was still observing their friendship at the distance.

One time, it was only her and Nile remaining in the classroom as Alex was absent due to his injuries after brawling with other students.

Nile was still focused on the book he was holding, as usual. As the delinquent Alex was not present, she mustered up her courage to go and talk to Nile.

However, she did not expect that Nile was also about to do the same. He stood up from his seat and turned towards her. She also did the same and it created a moment of silence after the two realized that they were doing the same action.

The two laughed at the same time before Nile offered that they should study together as they were the only students left in the room anyway.

Nile offered her a seat as they studied together.

Jellan was also among the top students in their room, but she could not be compared to Nile.

She learned a lot from that one session and she even wondered why Alex was not one of the top students of the school yet when he always had Nile tutoring at his side.

She even enjoyed the study session, and after a month, she finally started smiling again.
