CHAPTER 4
Asia quickly moved her body into the car and sat back down. She tilted her head back against the headrest of the seat and gritted her teeth as pain coursed through her, her eyes dropping close.
Jade turned her head briefly to the side to look at her bodyguard. She could see her body tremble from the pain. Returning her gaze back to the road, her eyes became fiercer than before as a dark glint shone in her eyes.
The next minute, she increased the speed, overtaking cars on the way, swerving and dodging oncoming cars as the chase continued.
One of the gunmen from another car behind got a rifle ready and aimed at one of the tires of Jade’s car. The force swerved her car, pushing it up. She tried to avoid the rifle and swerved her car to the other lane, ending up falling over to the lane below.
However, before the car could land on the main road, a trailer coming at full speed, brushed it off, causing it to twirl several times in the air before crashing down.
THUD!
The car was in a bad shape now, with smoke coming out from its bonnet. A pair of eyes slowly opened and her visions clouded with a white background as she blinked.
Raising her head slowly, she was the least bit shocked as she took in the sight in front of her. There were several cars displayed in front of her, each crashed into one another, just in front of her car.
That didn’t bother her, rather Jade turned to her side to take a look at Asia who was injured, but her eyes were met with an empty seat and the door wide opened.
“Oh no! Asia.”
Quickly she unhooked her seat belt and rushed out of the car. Unfortunately, during the shootout a couple of minutes back, Asia had already unhooked her seat belt to enable her to shoot at the incoming gunmen.
So she wasn’t expecting their car to undergo such a problem and when it twirled in the air, she was thrown out the car.
Jade got to where she was laid flat on the ground and shook her shoulders lightly, careful not to cause any more pain than the ones the bullet wound caused.
“Urghhh!”
“Asia! Asia! Asia, can you hear me?”
Her voice came off loud and laced with worry as she called out to her bodyguard.
After some seconds, Asia opened her eyes and was met with a pair of ocean blue ones.
“Jade?”
“Yes, it is me. Come on, we have to leave this place. They will be here any minute now.”
She tried to help Asia up, but the latter only groaned out in pain.
Jade’s eyes darted to her body and asked, “Where does it hurt?”
“I think… I may have dislocated my right arm and sprained my knee,” Asia said through gritted teeth.
“Don’t worry, I’ll carry you if I must.”
“No, Lady Jade. You must go. Leave me behind. I will only slow you down.”
“No, you are saying nonsense. We are going together,” Jade refuted her words and tried to lift her up.
Asia took this opportunity to grab her by the hand and made her look at her.
“Look at me. You must leave. It is too late for me. If you stay any longer, they will kill you too. You must leave, survive Jade Frost and exact your revenge a hundredfold for all the innocent lives that were massacred today. Carry on the Frost name and make them pay.”
As Asia spoke, a tear broke out from her eyelids and slid down her cheeks. By now Jade was already in tears as her eyes held Asia’s.
Although Asia was her bodyguard, Jade had always treated her like a close friend. Some who didn’t know even thought they were sisters with the way the two were close. And now being told to leave her sister… It was something she couldn’t bring herself to do.
“I can’t leave you, Asia.”
“You can and you must. If I mean anything to you, then survive and show them they messed with the wrong girl. Now go!”
She pushed her hand away, making Jade fall but she got up, took one look at her and Asia nodded for her to leave. She turned around and rushed to the car. Got the golden and black box and then ran away.
Immediately after she left, Asia pulled out a small gun from her thigh straps and shot at the car. Since it was already leaking fuel…
BOOM!
The force was so strong, it pushed Asia from where she was trying to get up, making her fall. Jade turned her head to look at the explosion, it took all she had not to run back there and stay with Asia.
Her fist curled into a ball and she continued running with all she got, careful not to be seen as she squeezed past the hold up they had caused.
Asia managed to get up, groaning through gritted teeth as she made her way towards the bridge, dragging her sprained knee and dislocated arm with her.
She had made up her mind. She would rather die than have those men capture her. Who knew what they would do to her if they met her here. For all she knew, they could humiliate her and also use her against Jade.
If she was lucky, she would survive her fall and maybe be washed away to safety, but if she wasn’t then so be it.
With her mind made up, Asia managed to get up at the small pavement before the rail.
She turned her head and noticed the gunmen had pulled up close to the accident, rushing over to their car to find them.
“Losers!”
She said to herself before turning to face the vast water below, ready to let herself fall and she did.
However, the moment Asia made up her mind to fall, Jade turned around to take one more look at the scene and see if the gunmen were there already.
A mistake she had clearly committed.
BANG!
“Aaaahhhhhhhhh!!”
