CHAPTER 5
A mistake she clearly committed.
BANG!
Jade’s eyes widened as she saw the red bloodstain on Asia’s back and the next moment, she fell off the edge and down the water.
“Aaaahhhhhhh!!”
The remaining people around the accident scene screamed as they all ran away in a hurry from the scene.
Jade looked wide-eyed at the scene, her eyes shifting in their sockets, still unable to take in what just happened.
“No, no, nooo…” Just about the same time Jade was about to scream at the sight, a hand covered her mouth with a napkin.
She struggled a bit but was helpless against her attacker. In no time she fell unconscious after inhaling the substance from the napkin.
*******
A pair of eyes blinked open in the brightly lit room. Virtually everything in the room was in pure white, starting from the tiles on the floor to the bed, bed sheets, dresser and even the door.
The room was fairly spacious even after being occupied by the six by six feet bed, a dressing table and a chair in front of it. To the side of the room was a big wardrobe and at the other side was a white leather cushion with a small glass table.
Jade groaned a bit at the aching pain she felt in her head. Slowly she shifted on the bed till she was in an upright position, with her back against the headboard.
She took note of her body just to be sure she wasn’t raped when she passed out, but everything seemed okay with her and she still had her silver gown on.
Her eyes scanned the entire room, taking in everything and storing it in her memory, before slowly landing on the white door as the knob turned and the door slowly pushed open.
Her eyes squinted at the door, waiting for whoever it was that kidnapped her to appear.
She didn’t have to wait too long as the silhouette of a person came into view before the person stepped fully into the room, revealing himself to her sharp questioning gaze.
Her eyes raked down the length of his body from head to toe as she took in the appearance of her attacker. He was tall, six footer and some inches, he had dark brown hair, with a tint of grey hair at the left side of his hair, thick eyebrows, wrinkled forehead, pointed long nose and broad thin lips.
In his simple, not catchy features, he still looked handsome. From his T-shirt, Jade could tell he had a great body built just from tracing the hard line of his abs.
Her eyes trailed down from his abdomen to where his hands fell limply by his side. She could see where the veins popped out, standing strong and showcasing his years of experience.
After her quick assessment of the man in front of her, her gaze went back to his. He hadn’t moved from that spot since he came in. He just watched her scan her blue eyes over him.
She looked at his hazel brown eyes and for some reason, they reminded her of a certain someone.
“From the looks of things, if you had wanted me dead, I should have been dead by now and you do not have any resemblance or liking to those scoundrels that wanted my life.”
As she spoke, her eyes seemed to narrow further, zeroing her concentration on this strange man who had an air of familiarity round about him.
“So it boils down to one question and only one. Who are you? Why did you kidnap me? Or should I say, why did you help me?” she asked flatly.
“You already know who I am.”
“Apologies, that doesn’t ring a bell.”
She scooted to the edge of the bed before getting up, and then moved towards her attacker all the while making sure to stop at a considerably safe distance from him.
“We have met before, Young Lady Frost,” he replied calmly, taking two steps further into the room and closing the door behind him.
“Have we? When and where?” Jade asked him, bringing her hands up and folding them in front of her chest.
“When you were little.”
“Do you have a name?” she asked, taking three steps closer to him and maintaining eye contact.
“I am known by many names because I possess specific, distinct qualities. Fierce, strong, smart, ruthless, swift, sharp, skilled…They call me… “
“The Unkillable Killer,” Jade completed his sentence with him, her clear blue eyes now completely clouded with the tears that threatened to break free from their sockets.
They were not just tears of sadness, they were tears of joy.
Although she had only met him once, true to what he said, she knew him. It was at her sixth year birthday celebration, her father had taken her to his study where she met him and was introduced to him.
Same at that time too, her father had introduced him as his dear old friend and right hand man whom he could trust with his life.
Curious, Jade had asked him his name and he didn’t know what to tell her, later he bent down to her level and said the exact same things he told her just now.
She was happy now because she had met her father’s most trusted bodyguard. With him around, her father was scared of nothing.
He was always in the shadows, so not many saw him or knew what he looked like. Even when she first met him, he had a mask covering his face, save for his eyes. That was why they looked familiar when she first saw them.
‘Wait a minute!’ a thought popped up in her head, and her expression changed as she stared daggers at him.
“Why weren’t you there? You were my father’s right hand man. The one he trusted the most. So where were you when the Frost family was murdered in cold blood?!”
