With electric currents enveloping its body, the bloodlust thunder wolf was as fast as the Radiant Highland horses, while Aisha’s horned holy radiant highland horse was barely faster than it.
There were only two issues about the bloodlust thunder wolf which made it extremely hard for the Valkyries and Aisha to pierce it with their spears.
The terrific electric currents coupled with its lean and flexible body allowed the bloodlust thunder wolf to roam freely around the Valkyrie group without sustaining any injury. It kept hovering around the group trying to intimidate them by changing its directions at breakneck speed in order to instill fear and create chaos.
However, it had failed to calculate the Valkyries’ discipline into its plan, along with the will to sacrifice their own life in order to protect their sworn sisters.
The horned holy radiant highland horse approached the bloodlust thunder wolf while trying to predict the future path it would run in order to reach it. Simultaneously, all of the hundred Valkyries released their [Lesser Holy] mana in order to create and shoot holy-light spears to hinder its advance.
Meanwhile, Aisha gathered her remaining mana and channelized it into her spear. It glowed brightly as the sound of a bell rang throughout the battlefield, violently shaking all the soldiers on the ground.
The spear enlarged while Aisha pulled her arm back and swiftly turned the spear in a smooth move. She readied it, perfecting her aim to throw it at the bloodlust thunder wolf, as the horned holy radiant highland horse began to radiate in white light.
Shane was shocked to see the enlarged holy-white glowing spear leave Aisha’s hand and zoom in the direction of its target.
“Am I watching a high-fantasy movie or what? Is the CG so good?” before he realized that he was not on earth anymore.
The spear’s speed seemed to put the speed of lightning to shame as Shane kept watching in awe. Sensing the perilous threat of death approaching it, the bloodlust thunder wolf hurriedly summoned a ten-meter-long lightning spear with all of its remaining mana.
Not even a millisecond later the holy-white spear pierced into the gigantic lightning spear, shattering it without further ado.
The spear continued with its trajectory, and pierced through the bloodlust thunder wolf’s back, tearing out a huge chunk of flesh while it caused a fountain of blood to spurt out of the serious injury it had sustained.
The bloodlust thunder wolf roared in pain, as it watched the woman who had attacked it in seething rage. Though it didn’t have any mana left, it wanted to approach the equally mana drained woman and kill her even if it were to die in the process.
While taking a small step forward, it noticed a hundred white armored humans on top of white horses approaching it. The lesser holy spears pierced into its purple fur, barely injuring it.
However, a few lesser holy spears pierced into the open wound making it wince., A fresh wave of pain circulated through its whole body, forcing the bloodlust thunder wolf to step back.
The wolf pondered over its next course of action for a while before its gut feeling and the accumulated intelligence overwhelmed the wild instincts. It turned around to flee without wasting any time, as a loud howl reverberated through the dark night, where it vanished into thin air.
Somehow, to Shane this howl felt like a warning “I’ll be back” but there was no way to ensure this fact.
After the bloodlust thunder wolf vanished, he averted his gaze to Aisha who could barely hold herself on her mount, as she ordered.
“Let’s pursue the bloodlust thunder wolf!! We can’t let it stay alive!!!” As she gave her mount the signal to follow behind the wolf into the darkness. All of the 101 riders took out two to three potions that were used to increase the mana replenishing speed, heal shallow cuts, and to activate a night vision effect in order to see in the darkness.
After consuming the potions, the Valkyries vanished within the darkness with Aisha in the front. Their horses had to drink a special night vision potion as well..
Shane was still shocked to see that every Valkyrie used the same magic with the exact same affinity, which was odd because the holy light affinity was said to be extremely rare.
‘Maybe the holy-light affinity is not that rare? But even Aunty Kia said so….Does it have anything to do with Aisha? Her holy light mana was much stronger…. Maybe they all have the same occupation…Have all of them unlocked the same requirement? Is that some kind of a ritual in order to enter the Valkyrie unit??’
He wasn’t aware of the specific criteria that one had to meet to enter a special unit, but he knew quite a lot of unique units that only allowed special occupations or rather youths with a certain affinity to enter their military unit.
There was the [Blazing-Dragon] legion, for example, that only allowed humans with a fire affinity to apply to their unit.
Shane had never aspired to join the military in the first place. He found such units dumb, and even though their tactics could work in larger groups, according to him, they lacked versatility.
Weirdly enough, with the escape of the last threat the shelter had to face, everything went awkwardly silent. The soldiers who had collapsed on the battlefield regained some strength and used it to stand up not without shaking slightly.
Hearing a commotion behind him, he turned around to see unit after unit of soldiers approaching the northern gate with a handsome and proud-looking young man in front of them.
‘Why are such guys always too late?’ Shane sighed and thought of giving the proud young man a hearing when he remembered that he was barely at the later Mortal stage.
Thinking about this also suddenly reminded him of his current financial problem. His funds had tanked after purchasing the beast sealing card with the soul connection ability.
‘Maybe I was too rash?’ He thought, but after that, he immediately disregarded this thought. Traveling around with Umbra was too dangerous with his current strength and it was more of a hindrance.
Gold coins could always be earned but if Umbra were to die, everything would be over, which both of them didn’t want.
As the battle came to an end, Shane’s tension was immediately relieved while the emergency signal within the shelter was deactivated, which Shane hadn’t even noticed before.
Without further ado, he congratulated the rookie soldiers to have overcome their first, yet extremely dangerous beast tide, which was not something everyone could say about themselves.
In the end, it was Shane’s first time to lead others and he was somewhat proud of himself. He decided to walk down the stairs attached to the collapsed shelter wall.
Maybe it was wrong for him to abruptly leave his unit, but he didn’t want to be bothered by others about his origin and identity, because he would either have to lie or ignore them.
After reaching the alley Shane passed by the proud young man, who seemed to be obsessed with praises, being showered all around him.
Shane however did not care about him a tiny bit, which caused the newly arrived soldiers to look at him with anger, as they wanted their captain to be praised by everyone which was solely to suck up even more.
Passing them he subconsciously mumbled,
“Don’t trip on the slime trails you guys leave behind.”
