The Wife of Hades Novel

Chapter 5 - The An Family

“Oh!” She was a little disappointed to get her act interrupted, but she unbuckled her seatbelt and got out of the car.

The An Family’s house was located inside a gated community for middle to upper-class families, and overall, it was a very clean and safe community.

An Luxia knew that she was very lucky to be adopted into such a great and loving family. Her dad, An Ping, was the manager of a company, but retired a year ago and decided to open a small coffee and cake shop with his wife, Qi Lanyu.

She also had an older brother by 6 years, that was the biological son of the An couple, and the two of them were best friends.

The three of them treated her extremely well, like she was their own biological daughter and sister. When she was abandoned by her biological family and thrown into an adoption center, she was 3 already so she had memories and developed feelings.

It took a while for her to open up again to a new family when she arrived, but they genuinely treated her and raised her like a little princess. She knew that she was a very lucky girl.

An Luxia looked up proudly at her house and took the initiative to wrap her arm around Mo Han’s. His body stiffened slightly as he looked down.

“My family and the Lu family are here. We have to act like we are actually married.”

Mo Han thought for a few seconds before nodding his head. Then, the two of them entered the house together.

They walked into the living room, where they heard noise and chatter. When they entered, the talking stopped and everyone sitting on the couches looked up.

An Ping and Qi Lanyu stood up when they saw their daughter, and shock, surprise, confusion, and many other emotions mixed together on their face when they saw Mo Han next to her.

The Lu couple also stood up when they saw their “daughter-in-law” but Lu Xiamo kept sitting on the couch with his legs crossed together and his large stomach very visible as he leaned back comfortably against the couch.

An Luxia furrowed her eyebrows together just by looking at him.

Qi Lanyu walked over to her daughter and glanced up at Mo Han. Even An Luxia, who was 172 cm, was short when standing next to Mo Han, who was a whopping 192 cm.

For Qi Lanyu, who was only 166 cm, she had to tilt her head up very much to be able to look Mo Han in the eye.

“Xiaxia, who is this?” Qi Lanyu asked An Luxia softly.

An Luxia let go of Mo Han’s arm and instead switched to holding hands with him. She leaned in closer to him and rested his head on his arm, “This is Mo Han, my husband.”

“. . .”

Upon hearing this, Lu Xiamo finally jumped up from the couch, and the Lu family also gasped in surprise.

Even Qi Lanyu and An Ping widened their eyes when they heard their daughter’s words.

“What do you mean, Xiaxia?! Husband?!”

An Luxia nodded her head with a smile, “Yes!”

“Husband?! You two are married?!” Lu Xiamo asked loudly, his mouth falling open in surprise and anger.

An Luxia was not as respectful or kind towards him and she rolled her eyes as her smile disappeared, “Yes, Mr. Lu. So please stop coming over and bothering me anymore. We got married today!”

“Today?!” Everyone in the room exclaimed at the same time.

“Mhm!” An Luxia pulled out the red booklet from her bag and opened it up to the picture, showing it to everyone.

Mo Han had a cold and straight expression the entire time since they walked in, and he left all the talking up to An Luxia. However, a slight hint of a smile appeared on his face as he watched her wave the picture at Lu Xiamo’s face.

“Luxia, this is not a joke! Your parents promised us that you would marry our Momo when you two grew up. You are not a kid anymore.” Lu Xiamo’s mom said a little angrily.

An Luxia sighed and looked over at her, “My parents did indeed verbally agree, but that is just using words. Do you have a contract? A legal document? A signature? What are you going to do? Bring it to court. I wonder who would win. Auntie Lu, marriage is indeed not a joke. It is the most important decision of my life! Of course, I will have to take it seriously.”

Although An Luxia did respect Auntie Lu since she was an elder, she could not back down now. She had to be fierce in order to stop them from coming back ever again.

Lu Xiamo and his parents’ faces all turned slightly green by her words, and Lu Xiamo’s dad angrily clapped his hands together.

“An Ping, is this the daughter you have raised up! How could she talk to my wife like that? You two did indeed promise the marriage, and our Momo stayed single all this time because of that promise. You can’t break your promise now!”

Before her dad could speak, An Luxia did for him.

“I apologize if what I said to Auntie Lu sounded disrespectful, but I don’t think there is anything wrong with what I said. Marriage is indeed very important, and my marriage is up to me to decide. It is my decision, and I choose not to marry Lu Xiamo. And. . .”

An Luxia smirked, “Uncle and Auntie Lu, not to be disrespectful. . . but I think both of you know perfectly well why your son has been single all this time.”

— Author’s Note:

I am here again! I did this for my old novel and many people liked it so I will do it again. I know reading Chinese names may be a little difficult, so to make your reading experience better, here is the pronunciation guide ^o^:

An Luxia – An Loo Shia. The x is pronounced with a “sh”.

Mo Han – Mwah Han. The ‘o’ in ‘Mo’ makes kind of like a ‘wah’ sound, so it is similar to “Mwah” or “Mwo”.

An Yuchen (An Luxia’s brother) – An Ywee Tsen. Ywee is a little difficult. You can search up “rain” in Chinese and listen to it for reference, since “rain” is “yu”. The “ch” doesn’t really sound in “chen” so it is more like Tsen.

Qi Lanyu (Luxia’s mom) – Chi Lan ywee. Same ‘Yu’ as An Yuchen.

There are more characters, and if you like this, please remind me to make pronunciation guides for those characters as well! I hope this helps 🙂

Love you <3
