Cole blinked a couple of times as he focused on his body. It had healed! He looked at his right arm, or what used to be his right arm and all he could see is that it had ended up in a smooth stump of soft black skin.
“The Void is the absence of everything, ultimate nothingness given form. Whatever skill or technique or ability to heal is nullified in front of it. Cuts or injuries caused by void energy are incredibly hard to heal or heal much slower than even a normal human’s healing ability. Plus even if you had a chance to heal, you are in the void! A direct injury like that would not even heal, yet your body accepted the loss and sealed the wound shut, and quite cleanly too….I have to admit that would be a nice trait to have in the void.” The train driver said to them as he came closer, both Azrael’ on guard against each other and against the train driver.
“Now that I have fixed my train, we can start discussing how to deal with the both of you, the punishment for messing with my business and destroying my precious express.”
The moment the train driver started talking along this line, bus boys? Waiters? Whatever it was that they were called, those people that work on trains appeared around him and Azrael, however these group of people, all five of them, two to Cole and three to Azrael, had enough power to dwarf what Cole and Azrael had.
“Why is he the one getting three and I’m only getting two?” Cole asked as Lyren rushed back into his body, turning into his full armor, Complete with shockingly enough a fully function right arm. Of course Cole could feel that this was Lyren’s limb and not his, he had no control over that arm, he just had to rely on his bond with Lyren to have him move in tandem with Cole, this was a stop gap measure, but until he gets back to Raen Valley, Cole would have to fight armless.
“isn’t that obvious, you have one arm. Id you still had two, you would be the bigger threat, but with one I take it your combat capabilities would have dropped by at least 30% the assassin still got all his limbs, he really got you fucked up huh?” the train driver said as Cole turned to face Azrael’, fury etched on his features were mirrored on his wolf shaped helm.
“Don’t bother to fight, any one of my helpers here have enough power to slap that Void Nestling to death, with just a single half hearted strike mind you. If you make a move then you will die, now where were we? Yes punishment!”
Cole held Black Malakai in his left hand, while the Seraphim hung in the air around him, ready to attack at the sight of aggression. Azrael in turn got ready, pure darkness wafting off his body as he held his dagger close to his chest and kept his center of gravity low and defensive.
“I like you two, not willing to back down even in the face of impossible odds. Well here’s the deal. You both have wonderful skills that can pierce through the void, the armless Devil takes it a step further by even being able to create and walk rifts to other realities and dimensions. Just how stupidly broken are you two going to become once you get to my level or the level of my servants.
I can’t wait to see what that would be. But for the crime of abusing my hospitality and good heart, and messing my day to day business, getting the souls and lives of some of my passengers extinguished for good. Trapping others in the void, which mind you would take me a few years to recover, not to mention my coaches! Each of them are more valuable than your worthless planet! Now your punishment!”
Thunder boomed in the void, as Both Cole and Azrael felt their bodies locked up. They could only move their eyeball as an oppressive feeling settled so heavily on top of the both of them that it was quite difficult for them to breath.
[You Have Been Placed Under A Geas! Upon The Signing Of This Geas, You Sign Away A Thousand And One Years Of Your Existence Or That Of Your Line, Depending On When The Caster Of This Geas, Comes To Collect. To Serve As A Proud Employee and Member Of The Void Express!]
Azrael took one look at the system prompt and said. “I’m never having kids, and I damn sure I’m not going to be your employee!” Cole on the other hand paused for a moment, reading it thoroughly before saying.
“If it’s punishment I’m not afraid of it. I’ll serve, but that shit about my line…..take it the fuck off. I’m not signing away my child’s life or that of any of my descendants to serve as your lackeys for a thousand years. Heck I’ll serve for a thousand more, change it!”
The train driver raised an eyebrow at Cole, shook his head and laughed.
“Bro this is not a negotiation, and frankly speaking I didn’t write that. The same deal was offered to me, I’ve never had kids though so you can see, I’m stuck. And I’ve been stuck this way for ten thousand years, the system enforces the rules of the Void Express. And these are rules and terms that have been in place since the system first awakened. So there will be no changing nothing or anything. You take the deal or you die. And since this is a system enforced punishment your choice is made for you.” 𝑖.𝘤ℴ𝘮
The moment Cole heard that, there was a sound akin to a thousand explosions going off in his head. His left arm got dragged to the ground as a golden tattoo was etched around his wrist, a symbol of a train with the words Void Express written underneath it. The grunt of pain he heard from Azrael just more than made it obvious to Cole that the assassin had also been branded.
“Well now that we’ve got that out of the way, we should be coming up to your stop, now get the fuck off my train. “
