You're My Only Star Novel

Chapter 3 - Bai Zhi's Problem

Song Xing Xing alighted the bus and looked at the time. After getting a phone call from her best friend, Bai Zhi, and heard how that person had cried in aggrieved, Song Xing Xing was a little worried. She did not know what had happened and was worried that her friend was going to do something drastic.

After walking for five minutes, Song Xing Xing let out a breath when she finally saw the cafe from afar.

At this time, a black Maserati pulled over on the roadside.

Hearing the screech coming from the Maserati’s direction, Song Xing Xing turned her head to take a look. Although Song Xing Xing was used to see this expensive car, it was still unusual to see a Maserati stopping at this area.

Soon, a man in a black suit and white turtleneck alighted from the car. One glance at the man, and Song Xing Xing was able to tell from the way he dressed that he was someone with a lot of money. Although his dressing was a little simple, the clothes he wore were personally tailored. The man was wearing a black rim spectacle. With his good-looking face, style, and the expensive car, the passerby started to turn their head to look at him.

Bang!

A deep frown appeared on her face and Song Xing Xing had the urge to cry. She started to massage her forehead in the hope to lessen the pain and turned towards the pole that she had hit.

Her face grew red in embarrassment. The sound was a little too loud and the passerby who was ogling at the handsome man suddenly turned their attention at her. Some concerned passerby had wanted to approach her and ask whether she was alright but hesitated.

From her peripheral vision, Song Xing Xing was able to see that the handsome man too was looking in her direction. The look on his face showed that he too was shocked that someone had run into a pole.

Gritting her teeth, Song Xing Xing ran fled from the scene with her face reddened. It was not until she had reached the bus stop that Song Xing Xing slow down. Song Xing Xing began to massage her painful forehead while muttering a few cursing words at her bad luck.

She took out a handheld mirror and gasped upon noticing her swollen forehead. Finally, she forced herself to take a few deep breaths to calm down and ran over to the cafe.

Once she entered the premises, Song Xing Xing let out a breath in relief. She continued to massage her painful forehead and muttered a few cursing words.

The waiter walked over to greet the new customer but was shocked upon hearing her chain or curse.

Song Xing Xing bit at her tongue before she sent the waiter an apologetic look. “Sorry, sorry… I wasn’t talking to you. Hehe… I came here to look for a friend.” She scanned around the quiet cafe and saw her friend sitting in a quiet corner. Song Xing Xing pointed towards the direction before she walked over.

When she arrived at the table, Song Xing Xing gave her friend a look over and took a seat. The corner of her lips twitched as she saw that Bai Zhi was wearing dark sunglasses in the cafe.

This woman had tried so hard so that others would not recognize her on the street, but Song Xing Xing thought that with Bai Zhi’s dress up and big sunglasses, anyone would suspect something.

Song Xing Xing’s friendship with Bai Zhi began in college. Song Xing Xing was studying film production while Bai Zhi was studying performance. From the moment they met, the two just click and were able to talk about almost anything.

Before they graduated, Bai Zhi was scouted and was now working hard towards her dream to be an A-list actress. They had a dream where the two of them are going to work together on the same project and make their name in their circle.

Heaving a heavy sigh, Song Xing Xing then walked over to the table and slid into the chair.

Bai Zhi lifted her head and sniffled. “You’re here.”

“I came over as soon as I could.” Song Xing Xing gave her friend a look over and heaved with relief upon finding that she was unharmed.

At this time, the waiter walked over to take their order.

Song Xing Xing glanced at the menu and ordered a hazelnut latte. Once the waiter walked away, Song Xing Xing turned her attention back to her friend. She stretched her hand and held on to Bai Zhi’s. “What’s wrong? Why did you sound anxious? Someone bullied you on set?”

Bai Zhi sniffled. She grabbed the tissue paper and dabbed at her eyes. “Xing Xing!”

“Un. What is it?”

“Xing Xing, what am I supposed to do? I think, my boyfriend, Chang Yi is having an affair.”

Song Xing Xing stared back at her friend with her eyes wide. She was familiar with Bai Zhi’s boyfriend and knew that the two of them has been together for a few months. Just like Bai Zhi, Chang Yi was someone from performing school. The two met on set and decided to go steady after a few months.

Perhaps, it was because the two have not made their name in the industry yet, but at this time, the paparazzi were still unaware of the news of them dating.

“Are you sure?” Song Xing Xing asked. “Bai Zhi, you could be mistaken. Chang Yi and you are so much in love. How can he have an affair?”

“No. I’m sure.” Bai Zhi sniffled again. She took out her phone and showed a blurry picture to Song Xing Xing. “Someone sent me this photo earlier today. I know in a glance that that man is Chang Yi.”

Song Xing Xing took a look at the photo and frowned at the terrible quality. At this time she could not comprehend how her friend would recognize her boyfriend. The photo was too blurry.

“I heard that Chang Yi will show up at this fashion show with this b*tch this Friday.” Bai Zhi leaned forward and held on to Song Xing Xing’s hand tightly. “Song Xing Xing. You have to go with me. Accompany me to this fashion show and help me to catch this adulterous couple!”

Song Xing Xing stared at her friend and suddenly felt a chill down to her spine.
