As the surroundings changed, this time, the skies were cloudy and orange, with a dark, pungent atmosphere filling up the entire region, making even Damien and Reva wrinkle their noses.
However, when they looked down, their eyes widened to see that the previously prosperous beautiful city was now drowning in destruction and chaos with some dark humanoid looking monsters flying and lunging towards what seemed to be cultivators and tearing them apart like paper while biting into their flesh to devour their blood.
“What is this…What is going on…” Reva couldn’t help but mumble in total confusion, unable to make sense of what was happening while Damien continued to look on with a slack jaw.
The huge towering buildings were crumbling down as these monsters continued to attack and destroy by killing everything in their sight brutally. A sight that could make one’s stomach churn.
And as if that were not enough, a humongous dragon was flying through the skies, but unlike the red dragon from before, this one was wreaking havoc and causing death and destruction wherever it went.
Not even certain people with flashy weapons were able to stop it but instead got burned to ashes from the dragon’s terrifying flame breath, making Damien feel shocked at how powerful this thing was. Its flame breath even completely decimated one of the skyscrapers!
And these buildings seemed to have been made out of sturdy materials and were not supposed to easily get destroyed like glass.
The two could hear wails and cries of the people getting ripped to shreds and even the screams of children who unfortunately didn’t meet a better end.
At the same time, they could also see groups of humans running away from the city, trying to escape this hell, though many of them, unfortunately, couldn’t escape these monsters and met a gruesome end.
There was not just the dragon but dozens of monstrous ethereal beasts flying over the city while some were running around on the ground, hunting down the humans and feasting on their flesh.
However, as the two looked on, they saw something even more shocking, especially when they noticed the dead humans suddenly standing up and mutating into a monstrous figure, exactly the same as those dark humanoid creatures with black scales and completely black eyes.
‘The fuck is this? They are getting turned?’ Damien could only come to this conclusion and could guess how most of these monsters came to be.
“Damien…were these monsters originally humans like us?” Reva asked with a look of confusion and disbelief spread across her face.
Before she knew it, she couldn’t help but be immensely curious about why and how this was happening.
“It seems to be the case…but how did this happen? This couldn’t just happen for no reason, especially a city that seemed very prosperous and powerful…” Damien mumbled as he looked on.
Suddenly their surroundings again changed, and this time, the skies were completely dark and cloudy while the lands were barely illuminated by the moonlight that managed to make its way through the clouds.
As the two looked down, it seemed as if at least a few dozen years or even more had passed. But it was the completely devastated and ruined state of what was once a beautiful city that made him feel shocked.
There were only remnants of what was once towering skyscrapers and buildings, including even the large teleportation portals. The rest were in a completely ruined state and were merely just dust that had joined the earth a long time ago.
But the sight that made their breaths freeze was that this time there weren’t any scenes of humans getting devoured by monsters brutally.
Instead, the two saw the same humanoid monsters from before with black scales and glowing gray eyes roaming around in the city. And the shocking thing was that these creatures seemed to have gained some intelligence compared to before, especially since they seemed to be running certain camps and establishments where humans were rounded up and seemed to be imprisoned.
All these imprisoned humans had expressions of despair and hopelessness and didn’t seem to be in good condition. Instead, it seemed as if they wished that they were better off dead rather than rot inside these ‘prisons’.
Reva and Damien could also see some of the imprisoned humans being dragged away by these menacing creatures. The two could hear the desperate shrill cries of the humans that were being dragged away, begging to not take them, making Damien wonder where they were dragging these humans away and why these imprisoned humans seemed so terrified.
But his question was answered soon enough as Damien saw them laying these imprisoned humans on a table and restraining their limbs.
And to their horror, these mutated humans began to feast on these humans alive!
“Tch…How could they…” Reva clicked her tongue in disgust and anger, seeing these poor humans getting eaten alive by these monster-like humans.
Even Damien couldn’t help but frown seeing all this, and yet he felt as if he realized something by seeing all this. These intelligent monsters must have evolved enough to regain some of their previous intelligence and then began to imprison the surviving humans and devour them.
Still, Damien couldn’t understand why these creatures were imprisoning the survivors by setting up organized structures and all. It couldn’t be just for simply eating them. He felt as if there was something more to this.
And right at that moment, Damien noticed a separate small decrepit building where he saw these mutated humans looking after some human children while providing them with food and even water.
‘They are nurturing children? Don’t tell me…” Damien sucked in cold air as he realized what was going on here.
“These disgusting abominations are rearing human children so that they can grow up and produce more children, only to end up as fodder once they have fulfilled their purpose…How disgusting and cruel…” Reva mumbled as she clenched her fists.
